When

When I love, my soul is poured out, merging into streams, flowing into oceans;

So deep, the currents so high;

I ebb and flow, then tranquility is near,

Bathing me in calmness, no strife can diminish

My peace. The boundaries of it can not be contained.

When I love, my heart beats the rhythm of oneness with

Myself and with my fellow man.

In the summers of my days searing heat would try to

Desiccate the flow. The winters of me grow icy cold

And hard. Yet spring brings gentle warmth and the frost of betrayal and disappointment melt away.

Misjudgment makes the toll weighty, made payable

At my expense. Yet coming into who I am,

The misjudgments and misunderstandings of others

Become marginal at best.

For if they knew the rays of love that light me

They would step into its glow

Shadows dim the true picture, and inclinations lessen

Neither side persist to see clearly,

Midst the tapestry of ambiguity, branches of hope grow

Rooting into the soils of new beginnings

So with the conclusion foregone, I shall wait

Until the promise culminate into reciprocal agape,

Integral to the sustaining of life; and as we take of

That and one another, life in spite of humanity becomes

Heavenly
